-----------------------MINUTES ---------------------------
Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting.

AR Review:

- Mike ask the IBIS Secretary to delete "acting" before his name as chairman.
  Not discussed.

New items:

We had a short discussion about MeetingPlace problems. Only Mike succeeded
in running the web sharing tool. Others got a web page that timed out, never
displaying anything.

Roy mentioned the feature selective validation method used in the frequency
domain. This probably can be adapted to validating time domain waveforms.
It might be used for correlation, and is possibly better than the "area
between curves" method.

Reminder: neither David nor Roy are able to deliver their presentation
at the upcoming summit.

Radovan asked about the status of the checklist. The "Checklist" link on
our web page has only the checklist spreadsheet document. A more complete
kit containing the spreadsheet, specification, presentation, and sample IBIS
file was uploaded 4 oct 2004. This needs to be brought to the top level.
Caveat: it is all based on the 1.0 IQ spec.

AR: Mike put complete checklist kit under web site "Checklist" link

IQ Spec review

Mike described the formatting changes made. It now has a revision history
table and a table of contents. Text style changes needed to accomplish
that are complete only up to section 4.3.9. Mike now despises MSWord.
The Purpose section will be moved above Revision History.

We again reviewed section 2.1.
- It was noted that IBISCHK could be modified to make the documentation
best practice easier, if it printed it's output in valid IBIS comment
  format.
- Some discussion about use of the X designator:
  - Mostly a flag to indicate there is something unusual about the model.
  - Zero-crossing warning may not be a problem for diff buffer, for example.
Terminated buffer never operates in that region.
  - Do not want to overuse it.
  - Need to discuss this when Kim can join us, since he has slides on the topic.
- Roy suggested that the 2nd sentence of the paragraph about [IBIS Ver] might
be better off in the IBIS Cookbook.
  - It looks more like guidance than a quality requirement.
  - Mike felt that some pressure to make IC vendors use version beyond 2.1
is warranted, to discourage model makers from omitting newer features
just because a 2.1 infrastructure is entrenched.
    - Vref/Vmeas example:
      - Certain technologies do have fixed Vref and Vmeas, and only 2.1
	is needed.
      - But many buffers are timed with Vref/Vmeas that shift with power
voltage. These need [Model Spec], a 3.X feature.
      - Mike has seen IBIS 2.1 files that need [Model Spec].
  - In the end we decied to leave the paragraph as-is.
- Other small changes made.

AR: Roy write "IBIS comment format" parser bug. Will not get to it right away.
AR: Mike post new IQ specification with review updates.
